Kourambiethes (powdered Sugar Cookies)

 Categories: Desserts, Cookies, Greek, Holiday
      Yield: 30 cookies

      1 c Butter; softened
    1/4 c Powdered sugar
      1 Egg yolk
    1/2 ts Soda
      2 tb Whiskey
      3 c All-purpose flour (to 3-1/2)
           Whole cloves
           Powdered sugar

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; add egg yolk. Combine soda
and whiskey; add to creamed mixture. Add flour, 1 cup at a time; mix and
knead by hand, adding enough flour to make a soft dough.

Shape as desired into crescents or oblong balls. Insert a whole clove in
center of each cookie. Bake on ungreased cookie wheets at 350 degrees for
20 to 25 minutes. Dust generously with powdered sugar while cookies are
  warm.
